gratitudes, frittata with dairy free cheese, lactose intolerance, why?, are we a christian nation?

yesterday i was grateful for a delicious cabbage and sausage soup and christmas movies with holly...
today i am looking forward to meeting with my cemetery colleagues and beginning to prep food for christmas eve and christmas day...
yesterday i made a rather nice frittata using up some leftover pasta with tomato sauce and dairy free cheese...

i have been having digestive tract issues and i am currently exploring the idea that i may have become lactose intolerant... my wife, who is a retired nurse, told me a sizable portion of the adult population is or becomes lactose intolerant... i have been off cow's milk products for a few days now and so far the results have been positive... it may really be a thing for me...
as i was thinking about the state of the world i asked myself the question... "does the cosmos have an answer to the question why?"... i wrote in my journal...
the cosmos created at least one species that asks why... does the cosmos have an answer to this question?... has it, or will it create a species capable of answering that question?... have some among us humans found an answer to that question and we just refuse to accept it?...
news from the shit show front...

Speaking today at Turning Point USA’s annual “AmericaFest” conference, Vice President J.D. Vance said, to great applause: “The only thing that has truly served as an anchor of the United States of America is that we have been, and by the grace of God we always will be, a Christian nation.”

Vance’s statement flies in the face of our Constitution, whose First Amendment reads: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof….” James Madison of Virginia, the key thinker behind the Constitution, had quite a lot to say about why it was fundamentally important to make sure the government kept away from religion.
it seems to me, as it seemed to James Madison, that religion is trouble... especially organized and with power... i have no quarrels with religion on the ground... for the most part local religion helps people find a place in the world... helps people on the margins improve their existence... but when it accumulates power... not good... though, i am not sure i think any concentration of power is a good thing...
