late night last night… went with hb to the city to hear/see ALOK… gender queer comedic performer… what a lovely hoot that was… though, truth be told, i preferred their warmup act… i love the rapport they had with the audience and their interpretation of fem, which involved knee high boots, a mini skirt, tights, subtle makeup, hair up in a bun, not sure if there was any body shaping going on… ALOK was good too, but they didn’t appeal to me as much in their rendering of femininity…
most notable to me was a wo/man and their woman companion… they were male in a tall, burly, very fit, muscular, sort of way… but they had big boobs… and she was slight, petite, and at one point nuzzled into them, their arm around her and her head laying against their shoulder and and associated boob… it was quite the anomaly in the room… and freeing to see… i am not doing anything as anomalous as that… i honor it…
we spent a lot of time on the road… traffic was pretty heavy on the way down… there was an accident on the FDR that shut down all the traffic for half an hour or more… we actually might have gotten back at a decent hour but wound up getting back at midnight…
h was a people meeting machine… she took my breath away with her probing questions and then the people she was chatting up took my breath away with their willingness to answer those probing questions… she was a real lesson in networking…
the venue was The Bell House… located in Gowanus… it so reminded me of early days in Williamsburg… it’s come a long way since i had a studio there in the early 2000’s… places to dine and be entertained… generally, i was surprised at how little things had changed… yah, there were new tower buildings here and there, but not as many as i had imagined there would be…
hb is going to drag me to nopen mike towards the end of the month… an open mike for the lgbtq+ community… it is so nice to have someone to go to these things with…
the feeling of starting to find my peeps is amazing… i want more of that… i want more context to place myself in… i want ever more vibrantly diverse community…
just ordered me some more pepper bras and a teddy!… so… much… fun!!…
