depression, retail therapy, border patrol, fbi, atf, authoritarianism
yesterday i was grateful for an afternoon walk with Holly...
today i am looking forward to another beautiful day on BI... could it be a beach day?...
sitting in odd fellows cafe... trying to be productive but feeling depressed... i woke up feeling this way... it hasn't improved a lot, except, i just did some shopping for a blouse and jeans that i want to wear with my beaded tie... found what i was looking for on BR... that made me feel better... retail therapy... holly and i have been doing a lot of that...
i have gained weight since coming out here... struggling to stay within my calorie limits... alcohol part of the problem... snacking... eating to much at regular meals... as i write this i realize that i am feeding my depression... feed a fever, starve a cold?... or something like that... feed a depression, because, you know, deprivation only fuels the depression...
later...
after a walk along the road to state beach house and back along the beach... some photos along the way... i am back at the cottage... dogs are sleeping... holly and i are absorbed in our devices... a buoy bell rings in the distance... tree leaves rustling in the wind... the screen door rattles... sunlight spills across the floor... leaf shadows vibrate... a crow calls in the distance... in the midst of this vibrant peacefulness, depression subsides...
horrible description in hcr of border patrol, fbi and atf raid on chicago apartment building earlier in week...
At about 1:00 on Tuesday morning, federal agents from Border Patrol, the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) raided an apartment building on Chicago’s South Shore Drive. Using helicopters and large vehicles, as well as flash-bang grenades, and dressed in military fatigues, agents broke down the doors of the residents of the five-story building and pulled them from their homes in zip ties, some of them naked. Agents left the people tied up outside for hours before letting all but 37 of them go. The apartments residents returned to were trashed.
authoritarian playbook continues to unfold...
