no kings, fashion choices, maga hatred, suffering
yesterday i was grateful for a board meeting that went smoothly and a massive turnout for the no kings protest...
today i am looking forward to the farmer's market and jeff daniels at the town crier...
Today, millions of Americans and their allies turned out across the United States and around the globe to demonstrate their commitment to American democracy and their opposition to a president and an administration apparently bent on replacing that democracy with a dictatorship.
Administration loyalists tried to claim the No Kings protests would be āhate Americaā rallies of āthe pro-Hamas wing and Antifa people.ā Texas governor Greg Abbott deployed the Texas National Guard ahead of the No Kings Day protests, warning that ā[v]iolence and destruction will never be tolerated in Texas.ā
In fact, protesters turned out waving American flags and wearing frog and unicorn and banana costumes and carrying homemade signs that demanded the release of the Epstein files and defended Lady Liberty. They laughed and danced and took selfies and sang. City police departments, including those of New York City, San Diego, and Washington, D.C., said they had made no protest-related arrests.
i attended the no kings march in beacon... bigger than the june march... which was the biggest march i had attended in beacon until yesterday's march... the atmosphere was joyous, defiant, peaceful... i was worried the administration would attempt to foment violence somewhere, but it didn't happen... our protest was disciplined and well managed... it made me happy... we need more... my guess is the organizers will steadily increase the protest pressure leading to the midterm elections...
during the march an ambulance needed to cross the line of marchers... we rapidly split to the sides of the road and let the ambulance through... there was very little delay of the ambulance... measured in tens of seconds... apparently a bigger problem was an improperly parked vehicle on the side street the ambulance turned down... this didn't stop a maga type (i assume) from spreading the incident on social media, harshly criticizing the marchers for holding up the ambulance... there was a bit of maga pile on... the hatred was palpable... lets be clear... ambulances have to make their way through impediments all the time... the idea that there shouldn't be marches because an ambulance might need to get through is ridiculous...
it was interesting and encouraging to hear that there were solidarity marches in other countries supporting the marchers in the united states...
i am wearing my black denim maxi skirt, a very dark blue sweater, pink tights, purple-red lipstick, rainbow colored scarf around my neck... loving my presentation today... loving myself in feminine configuration... i often wish i had gotten to it sooner... i am beginning to work out more outfits that trend feminine doing masculine... my wife likes that look... she prefers it to the girly-girl, or feminine mystique, that i trend towards... i like being capable of a variety of well coordinated looks that toy with the masculine-feminine boundaries...
i was fantasizing about opening a women's clothing boutique this morning... i am too old to start a business like that, but i think i would be good at it... it would be so much fun... i will shop the boutiques instead...
i like this thought...
Suffering is, by its nature, the primary mechanism of change⦠It somehow presents us with the opportunity to transform into something else, something different, hopefully something better⦠This change is not something we necessarily seek out; rather, change is often brought to bear upon us, through a shattering or annihilation of our former selves.
we have been suffering here in the united states... i only wish we were at the end of it, rather than the beginning... i think it will get much worse before we can hope to welcome something better... i hope to live to see the betterā¦
